Rainy Day fun for kids!

Summer vacation is here, and we have been quite busy! There are lots of things to do and places to go. However, when it is pouring rain outside, what do you do? Well, I have come up with a list of fun ideas to do at home with your kids. Some of these you may have done, and some may be new to you, but they are all fun! Here goes!

1) Camp out! Grab your sleeping bags and do some indoor camping. Pretend you have a campfire and are “roasting” marshmallows. Maybe watch a fun movie while camping out! 😉

2) Indoor picnic! Grab a blanket and a tray of {healthy} snacks, and have your very own indoor picnic!

3) Write your own short story. Have your kids write their own short story along with pics, and then share your story when finished.

4) Take out the board games. This is a no-brainer, right? Thought I’d throw it in anyways, just because kids usually LOVE board games. Take turns picking which to play.

5) Hide and seek! Who doesn’t love a game of hide and seek!?

6) Make a “no bake” recipe, like this one….

1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup margarine
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped peanuts (salted)
1/2 pound M&M’s candies
1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1. In a saucepan, stir over medium-high heat the sugar, margarine and milk.
2. Bring to a boil, stirring continuously, and boil for 1 minute.
3. Remove from heat, stir in remaining ingredients.
4. Drop onto wax paper with teaspoon or tablespoon for larger cookies. Let cool.

7) Have your very own tea party!

8 ) 8) Make some gak! This is fun!

9) Make fridge magnets from clothespins! Easy and fun craft. All you need is small little magnet squares, or a sheet that you can cut from, clothespins, glue, and fun things to decorate them with. (Like markers, puffy stickers, etc..)

10) Get out and play in the rain! (Well, if it’s not too cold and isn’t storming, of course!) 😉

There are many things to do on rainy days. Way more than I have listed. Just use your imagination. Have fun on your rainy day! 😀

  1. Hello, Sandy,
Wonderful tips! As a fellow blogger, I so appreciate your upbeat tone and clever info. As a fellow mom, I’m relieved to see all these ideas. We also love the library and like to write/produce theatre productions in our living room on dreary days! Thanks for the continued inspiration!
