The Crooked Christmas Tree {Book Review}

The Crooked Christmas Tree Book Cover Title: The Crooked Christmas Tree Author: Damian Chandler Genre: Religion Publisher: FaithWords Release Date: October 3, 2017 Pages: 144

In this real-life Christmas fable, when a Dad decides to let his kids select the family Christmas tree, he gets an unexpected lesson about God's love. In this thoroughly contemporary holiday story, a father lets his children choose the family Christmas tree. To his surprise, the kids pick one that is crooked. As he tries one thing after another to make the tree look right, he rediscovers the power of God's love. He begins to understand Christmas in a new way, particularly when his family decorates their tree and crown it with a star, never even noticing the crookedness he spent hours in the garage struggling to hide. The tender and laugh-out-loud narrative of real-life relationships propels the reader through the most un-generic Christmas story. This upbeat and comedic treasure refreshes the Christmas message of love and faith.

I enjoyed reading this book. In fact, I read it all in one day. πŸ™‚
It isn't a long read, but just the right length. It has an amazing message, and really helped me to understand how God sees God sees all of his children. A reminder that we are valuable to God. Great book! This would make a great gift. read more

This year's wrapping paper selections….

Every year I go with a color scheme or a theme with my wrapping paper, gift bags, etc. Yes, call me crazy, but I like doing it that way. BUT…this year, I let that whole idea go and let the girls choose their favorite wrapping paper. I chose a couple too! πŸ™‚ This is what we picked out!

{Great} Bible Verses for Christmas Cards

Every year, I go through trying to decide on a design for our family Christmas card. {I’ll address that in another post.} πŸ˜‰
I always like to add a Bible verse in our card, after all, Christmas is all about the birth of Jesus Christ-our Saviour and God’s promises. read more

Online Shopping-Saving time & money?

As much as I love going into the stores, sometimes it can be really frustrating. The crowds are getting bigger & bigger the closer to Christmas it gets. Online shopping is just necessary at times. I shop online when I can get a great price, and get free (or low) shipping.

This morning I shopped a little online and found what I was looking for on sale for 30% off. It was 30% off a price that was already the lowest I’ve found, with free shipping & no tax. Yay! :o) I get excited over things like that, haha! read more

The candy cane is more meaningful than just a “sweet” at Christmas.
It can remind us of Jesus…
its shape is like a shepherd’s staff.
Its wide red stripes remind us that Jesus shed his blood for our sins.
Its narrow red stripes remind us that “by his stripes we are healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)
Its white stripes stand for purification, by his death we were made pure.
The peppermint flavor is similar to hyssop which was used in Biblical times for purification.
Its taste is sweet, as it is “sweet” to walk with Jesus.
Turn the candy cane upside down…
It becomes a “J” for Jesus.

Being adventurous!

I am gonna make Christmas stockings for the family! I bought felt, yarn, and all the necessary stuff to create our own personalized stockings. I am going to do the sewing part, but will let Jacey help, too!
Okay, so I am not a “sewing person”…but I can do a little bit of hand sewing with a needle. It’s basically just creating a stitch! πŸ˜‰ We’ll see how it works out. I’ll post pics when i am done with them all!

Here are a couple of links to check out, so that you get an idea of what I’m doing! πŸ™‚ read more

Christmas and the end of 2009

Wow! Can you believe it is almost 2010? This year just flew by!
We had a great Christmas holiday. Before Christmas we went and spent a couple of days with Jace’s family & extended family. The girls’ had their Christmas at their grandparents house…and a Christmas dinner at their great grandmothers house. It was nice-and a lot of fun.
We spent Christmas at home. Brian came over on Christmas Eve and stayed the night with us. On Christmas morning we opened gifts and pretty much spent the day at home. Oh-and we also had a nice blizzard the day before….so we had LOTS of snow! It was a really nice holiday. The girls enjoyed it so much. Every day for about 2 weeks before Christmas, Jacey would ask “Is it Christmas yet?”. LOL! She was anxious for it to get here! Jadyn had a great time opening her gifts-as well as Jacey-but this was the first year Jadyn REALLY knew what to do-and she went to town tearing that paper! She loved her gifts, but she really loved tearing the paper, too.
The girls made out nicely-and really loved everything that they got. I got the new super fancy slow cooker that I wanted! (yay!)
We had a nice Christmas dinner-the 5 of us…and relaxed, played games and enjoyed our day!

So 2010 is just around the corner-just hours away! Hope your 2009 was great-just as ours was.
