Four Ways to Give Your Teenager the Outlet They Need

Raising teenagers is a tough commitment. Social pressures, academic demands and biological changes make this period of life stressful for teens and their parents. It’s important for adolescents to find healthy outlets for their stress and to search for positive activities to fill their free time. This can help teens build meaningful relationships and avoid poor choices and low self-esteem. Here are four ways to help your teenager develop a passion for a positive activity.

Help Them Pursue the Arts

Visual, musical and theatrical arts can foster creativity and community while teaching discipline and focus. Look for local singing opportunities for teenagers by searching for after school groups and travel choirs. Enroll your teen in art lessons or let them take a class on a medium of their choice at a local art studio. Encourage them to audition for an upcoming production at your nearby community theater, or help them shadow an experienced pro to learn how to work behind the scenes. read more

Remembering Frostbite {aka Frosty}

Yesterday we lost a beloved member of our family, our cat of almost 15 years…Frosty.

He had not been eating very well for almost a month…and was slowly going downhill. There was nothing wrong that the vet could find, so maybe it was just his time. He was almost 15. The last few days of his life he had been struggling, and at 4 am on January 11, 2018…he took his last breath. πŸ™ read more

It’s cookie time!

Can you believe Christmas is so close now? I love this time of year! I just wanted to do a quick post to share some photos. Every year we like to make Christmas cookies – all different kinds! Last night we made sugar cookies. To be totally honest, Jace and the girls made these cookies. {I made the frosting.} πŸ˜‰

Have a very Merry Christmas! πŸ˜€ read more

A little family fun!

Last night we got to go to a fun Fargo Force fan dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings. The Fargo Force is our local hockey team, and they set up a “fan dinner” for the kids in the kids club. The kids who are part of the kids club are basically season ticket holders. So this dinner was provided for them {for free} and their family members.

We all sat in a sort of banquet room and had dinner with a few players from the team. There were also drawing for prizes like t-shirts and more. Jadyn actually had her name called to win a 10th Anniversary hockey puck with the team name on it. She was super excited! Right before they called her name, she saw the prize and said, “THAT would be cool!” So, it was pretty awesome that right after she said that, her name was called. πŸ™‚ read more

Today I am thankful for…. {11-9-17}

God given patience!
It’s definitely there when I need it most. Like today when I pulled the carpet cleaner out to clean my carpet in the living room area upstairs. I also had to clean the actual carpet cleaner itself, too. Something I did not want to do—-ugh….but I did it anyways. Why?! Because it needed it! If you have pets, you know how funky a carpet cleaner can get. Hair and fluff balls trapped inside….GROSS! Anyway….today I am thankful that I had the patience to do this without getting super irritated….{gagging and all!} HA HA! πŸ˜€

My Furbabies and their Vet appointments!

First up is Frosty. We have been concerned because he is barely eating anymore and has lost weight. I took him to the vet and we had a right to be concerned. He has dental disease and has lost weight as a result of it. He is only 10 lbs. So skinny! πŸ™

He was quite nervous at his checkup, but was a very good boy! read more
