Happy Birthday to wonderful dad today! A lot has changed over the years. I have so many great memories. Like when I was a kid, my dad bought me a go kart and would take me to work with him on Saturdays (out in the country) and let me drive all over the place. I remember great family vacations to the Smokey mountains with my family. We went so many places…and he was always driving…my dad loved road trips! 🙂 And as I got older, my dad did so much for me. Worked on my car anytime it needed an oil change or if there was a problem, he helped me in hard times…and much more.
My dad is 75 today and has Alzheimer’s Disease. It’s a hard disease to live with…for my dad, and for his family. I think that it’s just one of the worst ways to live out the rest of your life. Alzheimer’s Disease is now considered a terminal disease. We know that it will only get worse, and want the best care for my him. He just recently was moved to a care facility/Nursing home, after a hospital visit. The doctor’s said that it is time to consider it, for his health and safety. He’s been there just a few days, and we are relieved to know that he will be cared for there and have all of his needs taken care of.
I never really understood Alzheimer’s Disease. You don’t really know what it is FULLY until you have a family member with it. It’s a hard pill to swallow…but we love our dad, and no matter what, we will do all we can to help him and make him comfortable and happy. He has done so much for us (his kids) and we will do all we can for him now.
Happy Birthday Dad! You are awesome!
