We all need to keep ourselves healthy and happy through our lives. Throughout life there are many things that will challenge our minds and bodies, and it is up to us to work towards making sure we are healthy for as long as possible.
After a tough year this year, it is more important than ever to look after ourselves and today we want to take a look at some simple ways you can make a positive change to your habits this week.
Rest your eyes
Most of us work in an environment where we need to look at screens for a long period of time in the day, and when we come home we look at our TV screens and then scroll through our phones. If you want to ensure that your eyesight does not suffer and weaken; it is crucial to switch off the screens now and again and instead enjoy the real world. Resting our eyes is an important step in maintaining strong eyesight and it will make a massive difference.
Eat plenty of vegetables
Vegetables are a crucial part of our lives because they provide the body with vitamins and minerals that are essential for our body to function. Eating vegetables in some form during every meal is a brilliant method to stay healthy and ensure that your body has everything it needs to function each day. At breakfast some avocado or wilted spinach is a great choice; for lunch a balanced salad; and at dinner some roasted broccoli and carrots are a winner.
Maintain good posture
Posture is something far too many of us take for granted, and as we grow older and develop back problems it becomes evident that things need to change. One brilliant way to maintain good posture and train your body is to use a posture app every day to track it. Train yourself how to sit up tall and breathe in a way that keeps your posture tall and straight.
Look after your skin
The skin is the largest organ of the body, but sadly too many of us don’t take the initiative to look after it. It is more important than you may think to look after your skin and maintain a healthy glow throughout your life. For your face: this might be a rigorous beauty routine each day with weekly face masks. For the body, this could be exfoliation in the shower followed by oil or lotion. Keeping the skin happy is a task but it will ensure that your skin is supple and strong enough to form a barrier from the outside world to your body.
Cleanse from within
One other way to change your habits this winter and stay healthy is to cleanse the body from within. We all know how important it is to drink plenty of water; but you can also add things to your water that will get rid of toxins as well as provide lots of other benefits. For example water with lemon and ginger will speed up your metabolism, cleanse the skin, reduce inflammation and pain, and increase circulation.
