Our [finished] Butterfly Island

Our Butterfly Island is completely done now. What a project! It was a lot of fun.

I had some help with this project. My hubby and his parents. His mom went with me to do the shopping and helped me plant the flowers. My hubby and his dad did the digging so that the butterfly island would be level. (Our yard has a slight slope to it, that you really can’t see just by looking at it. But when laying the garden block out, you could tell.)

Here is another helper of mine: My youngest daughter.

A Butterfly Island

She put on her rain boots so her little feet wouldn’t get dirty, and she went to work! I would say that she mostly watched, but did do some helping, too. 😉 She was really intrigued and excited by this project. She pretty much stuck around through-out the whole project…..curious….helping and watching. She never went too far.

I just love how it came out!

I even added this cute butterfly after we finished everything…

We’ve since have had lots of rain, so the plants are growing and the grass is greener….for an overall beautiful yard! The miracle gro soil that we chose is wonderful. The plants are thriving in it…and with all of the rain, the particular soil that we chose ensures that the plants are getting just the right amount of moisture.

There are still a couple of plants that I need to add, like milkweed and lantana. They were all sold out when I went shopping. The Home Depot has been a very busy place lately, but I know I could go back and get them at a later date.

The overall experience was a good one. It was a little more work than I thought it would be, but that is just because we had to level the space a bit. It was a lot of fun though, and I would definitely do it again.
