Reduce and reuse: easy DIY project ideas

In case you are tired of the constant lack of free space in your home, this means that it is time to do something about it. There are many ideas you could try which involve simple things like old jars, old clothes and even egg cartons. In order to turn this idea into reality, however, you will have to clean the whole house first. We know that this sounds like a lot of work, but that’s the only way you can gather all the things your need for your special DIY projects. Now is your chance to reduce the number of useless items you keep in your home and the cleaning is the fastest way you can do it. Here are some interesting ideas you can try after that.

Decorating with light bulbs – An old light bulb is one of the things which most people prefer to throw out right away. Don’t be in a hurry to do the same thing yourself. You can make your own tiny terrarium using an old or new light bulb. You can use it as a tiny vase as well. Keep in mind, however, that for the purpose you will have to remove all parts from inside the light bulb. Make sure that your eyes and hands are protected before you take a pair of needle-nose pliers and you start removing the metal part from the bottom of the light bulb. When the object is empty, you can fill it with sand, moss and various other elements you like. Then you can place your new tiny terrarium anywhere you like.

Tin cans as flower pots – If you like flowers and you have a big garden, then you will certainly like this idea. When you don’t have enough flower pots, you can substitute them with old tin cans. When they are clean and dry, you can put tiny holes in the bottom. Keep in mind, that the water will go right through that holes later, so it is a good idea to put something underneath. Chime from bottle caps – In case you’ve been collecting bottle caps for no reason over the last several years, now is the perfect time to do something with them. You can attach the bottle caps to an old tin can or some other object and create a special chime, which you can later hang anywhere you like. You will need metal wires, a drill with small bit and pliers. Put 1 hole in the top and one in the bottom of the bottle caps using the drill. Then start attaching the caps together using the pliers and the metal wires. Make sure that you wrap the metal in each hole with the pliers, so that the caps can stay together. Then attach everything to the tin can and hang your new chime somewhere.

As you can see, it is not necessary to spend money for expensive decorative elements because with a little imagination you can make them yourself. Feel free to try some other DIY projects, using old objects that you don’t need any more.
